"Modern Excel formulas have changed far more than the functions we use, they've changed how we should build solutions.

In this hands-on masterclass, you'll learn a practical approach to creating reporting and analysis solutions using Excel Tables, spill ranges and the latest formula capabilities. We'll tackle a series of realistic business challenges, designing solutions that are easier to maintain, automate and extend without relying on copied formulas or helper columns.

Along the way, we'll explore modern lookups, data shaping, iteration, LAMBDA functions, GROUPBY, PIVOTBY, dynamic charts and conditional formatting, while using AI tools such as Copilot and Claude to accelerate development and validate our work.

There will be Zero dragging of formulas in this masterclass. We will build consistent, robust, scalable solutions that are easier to maintain. We will be going beyond simply "does it work".

Expect plenty of participation, discussion and a few friendly challenges as we rethink what great spreadsheet design looks like.

Attendees will learn how to:

• Build robust spreadsheet solutions without dragging formulas.
• Design reports around Excel Tables, spill ranges, trimmed ranges and modern formulas.
• Use lookups, iteration, LAMBDA and PIVOTBY to solve real business problems.
• Understand the iteration functions, such as BYCOL, MAP, SCAN, REDUCE
• Create dynamic reports, charts and conditional formatting that automatically grow with the data.
• Use AI effectively to assist development while confidently validating every result.
• Apply modern spreadsheet design principles that improve automation, consistency and long-term maintenance.

Requirments:

Being a modern formulas masterclass, it will be relying on an Excel 365 version. The online version should work nicely here for anyone lacking this version.

Attendees do not need a Copilot or Claude license. the only time they will be used is as supplement to our work.
